Pennsy Traills of Hancock County

Tim McCarthy and Mary Ann Wietbrock of Pennsy Trails of Hancock County told Kiwanis the mission is to encourage the development of a walk/bike trail in Hancock County along the National Road Heritage Trail.  The 5 year goal is to join the Cumberland Pennsy Trail to the Greenfield Pennsy Trail.  The Cumberland Pennsy Trail is a 3 mile stretch of trail running through the Town of Cumberland along the abandoned Pennsylvania rail line.  The Cumberland Pennsy Trail is part of the National Road Heritage Trail.  The Greenfield  Pennsy Trail runs from 400 East to 150 West (south of and parallel to US 40/Main St.) and is a 5.6 mile trail.  Connecting the two trails by land acquisition and building a 4.5 mile section trail is the 5 year goal of the group.

The group is attempting to raise money to accomplish this.  They recently held a Pennsyville Pary and will be hosting a Pennsy Fling on Saturday, August 5 from 4 to 8 pm at the Preserve Clubhouse in New Palestine.
