Dr. Teresa Smith, spoke to Kiwanis about Induction Loop Systems. Loop systems take a feed from a public
address system and transmit it through a wire loop surrounding the space in
which people are listening to a presentation, such as a church. Many hearing
aids have a telecoil setting that allows users to hear the sound from people
nearby, as well as the feed from a loop system, without having to switch from
headphones to hearing aids.
Dr. Smith practices audiology at Hoosier Hear Gear in New
Palestine. Dr. Smith earned her doctoral
degree from A.T. Still University. She
has a master’s degree in Communication Disorders from Auburn University. In addition, she holds a bachelor’s degree in
Speech and Hearing Sciences from Indiana University.
