Mary Lynn Burrows, President of the Hancock County Adult Literacy
Coalition told Kiwanians about the Hancock County Learning Center. The Learning Center provides Adult Basic
Education, Reading, Math, Writing, Basic Workforce Skills, High School
Equivalency Test Preparation, and Post-Secondary Education preparation. The classes are open to individuals who are

math or language skills.
The classes are free and the Coalition helps pay for the
cost of High School Equivalency testing.
One of the coalition’s primary funding projects is the Adult Bee for
Literacy held each September. This year’s
spelling bee will be September 16.
