Dick Jefford, Coordinator of Toys for Tots for Hancock, Shelby, and Rush counties, spoke to Kiwanis about Toys for Tots. The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
Jefford said that last year 900 children were served in Hancock, Shelby and Rush. 400 of those were in Hancock county. A special need for the collection is books and items for newborns to age 2.
If you would like to make a donation or give new, unwrapped toys you can deposit them at collection spots throughout the county or call Jefford at djefford@wolfreedom.com
